Has this ever happened to you? You are reading your Bible and suddenly a verse pops out at you which makes you stop and read it again. Since that last time you read that section, God reached down and added something–well it seems that way.
There are also those things we remember from the Bible that may not always be an accurate recounting of what the inspired writers penned.
What I plan to do is occasionally share those verses which I have missed or have a different memory than what is actually written. Then I will check out what the Bible actually says.
Elijah and the Fiery Chariot
I was taught throughout elementary school that Elijah was taken to heaven in a fiery chariot. There were even pictures of that event. That was before digital photography so it looked liked a drawing. But is that what we are told in the Bible?
In 2 Kings 2:11 we read about Elijah and Elisha. While they were walking and talking, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire came and separated them. So Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
There was a chariot but Elijah was transported to heaven in a whirlwind. I am sure that believing that he went to heaven riding in a fiery chariot will not keep me out of heaven. Faith in Jesus’ redeeming work is the only prerequisite.
The point here is I need to know for sure what the Bible says not only for my faith but to be able to accurately share the Bible with others who also need to know about their Savior.
When someone tells me about God’s Word, no matter who that person is, I need to go to the Bible and check that out. What is written there is the truth and the only source for eternal life.
That’s my message for this post. I will be back with more. Hope you come back. I will wait you.
It’s funny I should come across this post. I literally just finished reading Galatians and this verse popped out at me. “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
I’ve read this verse over and over throughout my life but today it really stuck out at me. I grow weary quite a bit and sometimes I just want to give up, as I’m sure we all do at some point in our life. But this verse reassures me that one day we will reap a harvest of blessing. We shouldn’t give up.

Ah. God has a way of putting his word in front of us at just the tight time. Not that’s his sovereignty over all things. Past present and future. Thanks for sharing your insight.
