Reading through my last few posts is kind of depressing for me. The things going on are tough to handle and do appear to come without end. But, as I prayed this morning it came to me that I sound like those people who use Facebook to only let everyone know how bad their lives are going. It is difficult to read those day after day because I am not sure what I can do to help them.
I also realize that my focus on all the problems makes me more unbalanced than I usually am. I look for negative things to happen. I want God to bless us, but only in the areas of my life that I see would make things better.
So, if only for the rest of this blog, I am going to concentrate on some less serious things that I have read or thought about and want to share. Maybe it was spending the last few days way below zero and wind chills in the -20 to -50 range, but here are some “You know” thoughts.
You know it’s cold when you will find anyway to keep your nose warm.
You know it’s cold when you look to host an above zero party.
You know you never appreciate what you have until it’s gone. Toilet paper is a good example.
You know, well actually everyone knows, I really do not like playing games or doing puzzles. But, would I be conceited if I share that I finished a jigsaw puzzle in one day even though the box said 2-4 years?
You know we are all mature, until someone pulls out some bubble wrap.
You know I learned in my Mindfulness group at work that a stress ball should not really be used to throw at someone who stresses you out.
You know 4 out of 3 people struggle with math.
You know I will call it a smartphone when I yell “Where is my phone” and I hear the muffled answer “I am down here in the couch cushions.”
You know I should not vacuum and listen to loud music on my headphones at the same time. I finished three rooms before I realized the vacuum was not even on.
You know sometimes I have trouble sleeping at night knowing all that food in the refrigerator is getting so cold.
We know: Because of this you rejoice very much, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various kinds of trials so that the proven character of your faith—which is more valuable than gold, which passes away even though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:6-7. EHV
I am not sure when or how God will work out all the issues in my life. I know he loves me and that he will fix them in his time and in his way. I need to stay focused on that love. That does not mean forget or try to ignore the problems. It means I do what I can and let the rest up to him.
So now I need to get back to life. Who knows what is in store today. I know there is church tonight and that is good. With his love, his Word and even a chance to receive the Lord’s Supper, how could today be a bad day?
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you come back. I will wait you.
